Statistics showed that Xiamen in Fujian province generated 195.75 billion yuan ($30.59 billion) in retail sales of consumer goods in the first three quarters of this year, up 17.2 percent year-on-year and 5.1 percentage points higher than the province's average.

Statistics also showed that the retail sales of goods of enterprises above designated size reached 64.67 billion yuan through offline consumption in the first three quarters of this year, with a year-on-year increase of 17.9 percent, while that of online consumption totaled 40.9 billion yuan, up 21 percent year-on-year in the same time period.

Support from the municipal bureau of commerce to business entities to hold promotional events and distribute coupons to boost consumption has propelled the city's increase in consumption.

In addition, the municipal bureau of commerce has also increased subsidies to eligible businesses.

Statistics showed that the retail sales of automobiles increased by 17.1 percent year-on-year to 28.14 billion yuan in the first three quarters of the year.

Statistics of enterprises above designated size in the January-September period showed that the retail sales of clothing, shoes, hats, and textiles jumped 50.3 percent over the same period last year. In addition, the retail sales of cosmetics increased by 1.79 times compared to the previous year, the retail sales of sports and entertainment products surged by 84.6 percent year-on-year, while the retail sales of household appliances and audio-visual equipment increased by 40.9 percent year-on-year.
