The bidding process for Xiamen Port's 2022-24 channel dredging project was recently completed, which will contribute to building a global first-class business environment in Xiamen.

Channels, including the main entrance to the port, the Haicang channel, and the Dongdu channel, need to be checked and maintain dredging regularly due to the day and night surge of sea water and siltation.

The new round of the channel dredging project will begin on Jan 1, 2022.

During the 2022-24 maintenance session, the Xiamen Port authority will strengthen inter-departmental cooperation to take immediate actions when facing any emergencies. In addition, it will establish smart channels, increase channel inspection, as well as emphasize analysis of water depth detection and navigation capability in emergency water area.

Since 2019, Xiamen Port has made innovations to its channel maintenance and dredging methods. It has carried out unified design, bidding, construction, and management, which has led to a 100 percent rate of navigation depth maintenance in the channels in Xiamen Bay and in regularly maintained channels, as well as reduced costs.
