Xiamen in Fujian province was awarded the highest four-star rating for its business environment assessment among 10 container ports, which was announced at the 2021 Conference on Customs Clearance and Compliance Management held on Dec 9.
Since the assessment started in 2019, Xiamen won first place in 2019 and 2020. Though the assessment's format changed this year, Xiamen was still listed in the first group together with Ningbo in Zhejiang province, Qingdao in Shandong province, Shanghai, and Tianjin.
The assessment aims to boost the improvement of the business environment at ports.
Behind Xiamen's fruitful achievements are the efforts and measures made by involved departments such as the municipal bureau of commerce, the Xiamen Customs, and the Xiamen Port authority.
The efforts and measures included reducing the charges for cargo and pilotage, exempting port construction fees and inspection fees, accelerating the customs clearance of cold chain goods and epidemic prevention and safety, implementing fully digitized transfer sheets for equipment at the storage yard, building and promoting the Xiamen Air and pilotage vessel visual electronic cargo platform, successfully piloting multi-modal transport of one order service, and building China's first 5G full-scene application project and tradition wharf full-automation transformation project.
