Xiamen releases 2021 commerce results

Xiamen in East China's Fujian province made fruitful results in commerce in 2021, according to a statement released by the municipal bureau of commerce on Jan 24.

The city has achieved 2.82 trillion yuan ($446.68 billion) in total volume of wholesale and retail sales in 2021, up 45.5 percent from that in 2020. Its total retail sales of consumer goods also showed gains at a total value of 258.41 billion yuan, an increase of 12.7 percent, which ranked first in Fujian province in terms of growth rate. Its catering turnover rate in 2021 surged 30 percent to 9.28 billion yuan.

Xiamen's import and export volume in 2021 soared 27.7 percent from that in 2020 to 887.65 billion yuan, accounting for 48.1 percent of the province's total. Of that, its imports and exports grew 35.3 percent and 20.6 percent, respectively, to 456.92 billion yuan and 430.73 billion yuan.

Xiamen's actual use of foreign investment in 2021 grew 12.2 percent from that in 2020 to 18.64 billion yuan, accounting for 50.5 percent of the province's total.

In addition, Xiamen has set new goals for business development in 2022, which include increasing the city's total retail sales of consumer goods by 6.5 percent, the city's actual use of foreign investment by 3 percent, and maintaining the increase in imports and exports as it did 2021.
