Xiamen in Fujian province held a conference for entrepreneurs on Feb 16 to promote entrepreneurship and boost high-quality development, attracting nearly 500 entrepreneurs.

The lists of 2021 Xiamen leading companies were released at the conference, including 90 companies, spanning five sectors such as modern agriculture, new economy, advanced manufacturing, modern services, and construction.

Companies are the major element to boost economic development, promote reform and opening-up, improve scientific and technological innovation, and complete the city's construction, as well as play an important role in ensuring people's wealth and social stabilization, said Cui Yonghui, Party secretary of Xiamen.

Entrepreneurs are the pillar of companies, Cui added.

Eight entrepreneur representatives from companies like Tianma Microelectronics Co, Fabulous Group (Xiamen) Co, and CATL shared their experiences at the conference about developing businesses in Xiamen. They all praised Xiamen's business climate and predicted a bright future during the conference.

Cui also stated that the government should step up its efforts to help businesses grow. The intensity of social investment in research and development, for example, will be boosted to more than 3.5 percent by 2025, and the number of national high-tech enterprises will exceed 4,000.
