Huaqiao University (HQU) in Xiamen, Fujian province was named as a language service export base, according to a list compiled and released by seven departments, which included the Ministry of Commerce, on March 22.

The effectiveness of "going out" and the effect of cultural dissemination are strongly influenced by language service competency, which is a crucial attribute of national soft power.

Implementing national strategies, expanding the scale of trade and investment, strengthening market entities, speeding up integration and innovation, cultivating talents, and promoting related sectors to the world are the six primary missions of the language export service.

HQU, the newly designated language service export base, has a long history of providing language services, and has consistently delivered outstanding and exemplary results.

To date, the university has been approved as a Chinese language and culture education base, a national language promotion base, a key institution of Chinese language teaching in neighboring countries supported by the Ministry of Education, and a MOE authorized pre-college education base for students coming to China.

HQU's selection as a language service export base marked the fourth national export base for professional services in Xiamen, following the national cultural export base, the national digital service export base and the national Chinese medicine service export base.
