Xiamen in Fujian province scored 91.93 with the excellent grade in the assessment of the 2020 "vegetable basket" mayor responsible system, which was released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs recently, local media reported on March 29.

The mayor responsible system assessment for the "vegetable basket" is a nationwide evaluation led by the State Council and carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Every two years, the assessment evaluates 36 large and medium-sized cities across the country, including municipalities directly under the central government, provincial capitals, and cities specifically identified in the state plan.

Xiamen has received the excellent rating two years in a row.

Xiamen has placed a strong emphasis on the development of the "vegetable basket", with the goal of creating a high-quality and safe "vegetable basket" with adequate supplies and logistics to meet people's demands and satisfaction.

During the recent nationwide outbreak of COVID-19 cases, Xiamen provided residents with well-filled "vegetable baskets" and "rice bags" at reasonable prices, thanks to the city's initiatives and strategies.

The city has developed 10 emergency measures that cover six components of the main food market's supply and manufacturing. Seashine Group and Yinxiang Group, for example, have improved their cooperation and expanded their supply lines.

Furthermore, regular checkups on control and prevention of the COVID-19 outbreak have been conducted among supply guarantee enterprises and farmers' markets, and efforts have been made to resolve transportation vehicle and nucleic acid testing concerns for supply guarantee enterprises.
