Xiamen kicks off automobile shopping carnival

Xiamen in Fujian province held an automobile shopping carnival themed on "honesty boosting businesses" on July 14 to increase automobile consumption.
The purpose of the shopping carnival is to promote automobile consumption to facilitate automobile circulation and expand consumption. The event also provided a subsidy of 100 million yuan ($14.8 million) to further enhance the recovery of automobile consumption.
In 2021, Xiamen's auto retail sales accounted for 14.8 percent of the city's total retail sales of consumer goods, which was 4.9 percentage points higher than the national total, according to statistics. Thus, Xiamen's auto retail sales plays a vital role in supporting the city's growth of consumerism.
In June, 11,123 passenger cars were registered in Xiamen, a year-on-year increase of 23.1 percent, and a month-on-month increase of 33.1 percent.
The total retail sales of automobiles in June amounted to 3.75 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.5 percent, and an increase of 20.7 percentage points from the previous month.
