Xiamen's GDP gains 5.4% in H1

The GDP of Xiamen – located in East China's Fujian province – in the first half of 2022 expanded by 5.4 percent year-on-year to reach 366.32 billion yuan ($54.33 billion).

The growth rate was 2.9 percentage points and 0.8 percentage points above that of the whole country and Fujian province, respectively.

In the first half, the added value of its primary, secondary and tertiary industries was 1.09 billion yuan, 152.26 billion yuan and 212.97 billion yuan – up 5.3 percent, 5.5 percent and 5.4 percent, respectively.

From January to June, the added value of local industrial enterprises above a designated size – companies with annual revenue of 20 million yuan or more – gained 5.4 percent on the same period last year.

The added value of computer communications and other electronics equipment manufacturing, pharmaceuticals manufacturing, and electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing all saw steady growth – up 2.5 percent, 1.7 percent and 16 percent, respectively.

During the period, Xiamen's investment in fixed assets grew steadily. Investment in infrastructure expanded by 21.8 percent, investment in transport surged by 40 percent and investment in manufacturing went up by 32.2 percent. Of the latter, investments in high-tech manufacturing grew by 40.4 percent.

In the first half of the year, the city's total import and export volume was 444.32 billion yuan, up 8.3 percent year-on-year. Exports grew steadily, reaching 225.95 billion yuan, up 13.6 percent, while imports reached 218.36 billion yuan, up 3.2 percent.

During the period, the total per capita disposable income of the city's residents was 36,048 yuan, up 5.4 percent. The per capita disposable income of its urban residents was 36,943 yuan, up 4.5 percent, while that of rural residents was 19,731 yuan, up 6.7 percent.

The per capita income ratio of urban and rural residents was 1.87, which was 0.04 times lower than that of the same period last year.
