Xiamen releases economic results in Jan-Sept

Xiamen in East China's Fujian province generated 568.67 billion yuan ($79.33 billion) in GDP in the first three quarters of this year, an increase of 5.9 percent year-on-year, according to a report released by the city's statistics bureau on Oct 26.

In the first three quarters of this year, the output value of the agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery industries in the city was 4.44 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.5 percent.

During the same period, the city's added value of industries above designated size increased by 6.6 percent year-on-year.

The added value of computers, communication and other electronic equipment manufacturing increased by 6.8 percent year-on-year, and the added value of electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing soared 18.9 percent year-on-year during the same period.

The city's fixed-asset investment grew 9.8 percent to 231.57 billion yuan in the first three quarters of this year.

Investment in manufacturing surged rapidly at a growth rate of 27.7 percent to 40 billion yuan.

During the first three quarters of this year, the city's total retail sales of consumer goods exceeded 204.33 billion yuan, an increase of 4.4 percent, which was 4.1 percentage points higher than the growth rate in the first half of this year.

During the same period, people's living standards in Xiamen improved significantly with the per capita disposable income of residents amounting to 53,846 yuan and that of urban residents and rural residents increasing 5.5 percent and 7.3 percent, respectively.

In addition, consumer prices in Xiamen rose 1.7 percent year-on-year during the same period.
