Xiamen's foreign trade up 3.7% in Jan-Oct

From January to October this year, Xiamen's foreign trade volume reached 757.67 billion yuan ($107.11 billion), up 3.7 percent year-on-year.

During the same period, the foreign trade in Xiamen's private sector hit 297.02 billion yuan, an increase of 12.4 percent, and accounted for 39.2 percent of the city's total foreign trade value, while those of State-owned and foreign-invested enterprises accounted for 35.6 percent and 25.2 percent, respectively.

During this period, the city's trade with ASEAN, the US and the EU amounted to 149.38 billion yuan, 103.75 billion yuan and 86.64 billion yuan, respectively, a year-on-year increase of 13.8 percent, 9.9 percent and 9.7 percent.

Its trade with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative surged to 267.61 billion yuan in the first 10 months of this year, up 11.6 percent year-on-year, and trade with BRICS countries reached 76.46 billion yuan, up 26.3 percent year-on-year.

Xiamen's exports consisted mainly of electromechanical products and labor-intensive products. From January to October, Xiamen exported 165.03 billion yuan of electromechanical products, an increase of 5.7 percent year-on-year, and 110.21 billion yuan of seven main categories of labor-intensive products, up 8 percent year-on-year.

Imports mainly consisted of electromechanical products, agricultural products and iron ore, which amounted to 70.78 billion yuan, 69.65 billion yuan and 39.61 billion yuan, respectively.
