Fixed asset investment grows in Xiamen

Xiamen, a coastal city in East China's Fujian province, invested 244.58 billion yuan ($36 billion) in major projects last year, far beyond the planned investment volume in 2022.

The volume of investment in key projects in Xiamen has exceeded 200 billion yuan for two consecutive years, boosting the stable growth of the city’s fixed asset investment and socio-economic development.

Throughout last year, construction of 81 key projects in the city started and 63 were completed. They included industrial projects, civil utility projects and urban and rural infrastructure projects.

On Dec 28, 2022, the Project of East Asia Machinery Industry Air Compressor Manufacturing Base commenced construction. The project is located at the southwest intersection of Butang Middle Road and Yinlu Avenue in Tongxianggao New Town, Tong'an district in Xiamen.

The total construction area of the project is about 310,000 square meters and has a floor area of about 115,000 square meters. The project is also expected to have a five-story plant with offices, a 15-story residential building, warehouses, a generator room and production facilities.

A hospital with more than 1,000 beds has also been built with a floor area of 192,000 square meters. It is a comprehensive hospital and a research-oriented affiliated hospital of a prestigious university that integrates medical treatment, teaching, scientific research and health care.

On January 17, the main section of the Xiang'an Bridge was completed and opened to traffic. Spanning 12.37 kilometers, the Xiang’an Bridge connects Xiamen and Xiang'an over the sea.
