A meeting for in-depth communication and exchanges between China and Japan named "Overseas Exchanges Meeting—Entering Japan" was held simultaneously in Xiamen, Fujian province, and Tokyo, Japan, via video on Feb 15.

Led by the Xiamen bureau of commerce, the foreign affairs office of Xiamen and the Xiamen Committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and jointly sponsored by the Xiamen-Japan overseas investment and trade service station and C&D Inc, the event focused on the major themes of "investment", "trade" and "finance" and strived to enhance bilateral ties and facilitate local enterprises' expansion in the global market.

Song Yaoming, economic and commercial envoy of the Chinese embassy in Japan, said that strengthening cooperation between China and Japan -- the second and third largest economies in the world -- is an opportunity for both sides. They will work together to build an all-round Sino-Japanese relationship that meets the requirements of the new era.

Yan Zhiping, vice-president of the Xiamen Committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, believes that setting up overseas exchange meetings in Xiamen and holding themed business salons every month can expand the international market for enterprises in Xiamen, tighten bilateral relations and take advantage of the changes in the economic situation, market information and projects in a timely manner.

Wang Jiaxun, president of the China Company Association in Japan, said this year marks the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Sino-Japanese Treaty of Peace and Friendship and is also a new starting point for the future of bilateral relations.
