The e-commerce express route, which operates under the Silk Road Maritime platform in Xiamen, Fujian province, has handled more than 20,000 standard containers since June 2022, with total cargo value exceeding 8 billion yuan ($1.16 billion), according to a report by local media outlet Sun News.

Last June, the Xiamen Area of China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone opened China's first e-commerce express shipping route under the Silk Road Maritime, which offers a convenient and effective shipping method for cross-border e-commerce businesses.

The new shipping channel allows e-commerce goods to enter and exit the comprehensive bonded zone in a more convenient way, with fast customs clearance and seamless transit.

The highly efficient wharfs ensure that the goods can be loaded onto a ship in a short time and be delivered to Manila, the Philippines, in two days.

Since the start of operations, the e-commerce express route has been proactively expanding its e-commerce cargo resources and is committed to helping foreign trade enterprises in Xiamen and surrounding regions go global with higher efficiency and lower costs.

The Silk Road Maritime, a new logistics facilitation platform launched in 2018, has played an essential role in promoting the high-quality development of the Belt and Road.

Up to now, a total of 94 routes have joined the platform, which connects seven domestic ports in Dalian, Tianjin, Qingdao, Fuzhou, Xiamen, Guangzhou and Qinzhou, as well as 108 ports in 31 countries and regions.
