Alumni economic alliance conference kicks off at Xiamen

The 2023 Xiamen Alumni Economic Alliance Conference kicked off at the Xiamen International Conference Center Hotel in Xiamen, Fujian province on March 29. More than 250 alumni representatives from 96 universities and local primary and secondary schools gathered to share their own opinions on technological innovation and promote economic development.

Since its establishment in July last year, the alliance has witnessed great progress with the full support of alumni. Xiamen has signed strategic cooperation agreements with a number of universities such as Xiamen University and Tsinghua University, adding 49 major alumni projects with a combined total investment of over 100 billion yuan ($14.5 billion).

During the event, Wang Peicheng, deputy director of Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce introduced the alliance's work mechanism, main work and following work plan. The alliance plans to promote relevant work by establishing a platform, optimizing policies, launching activities and attracting talents.

In addition, the Xiamen Alumni Economic Promotion Association has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Siming district government. As a joint organization of cross campus alumni associations based in Xiamen, the association aims to create an "Alumni+ Xiamen+ Alma Mater" cooperative development community, promote alumni economic development in Xiamen and boost scientific and technological achievements in universities. It also strives to promote innovation and entrepreneurship among university alumni and attract talents.

In the future, the association plans to establish special committees consisting of new energy and artificial intelligence personnel, and hold forums and other activities to better boost the transformation of alumni technological achievements, project docking, and industry investment promotion.
