Xiamen Port signed a cooperation agreement with PSA International to formally establish friendly port relations with Singapore Port on Aug 1. 

To date, Xiamen Port has established friendships with 17 ports around the world.

Singapore Port is ranked second globally in container throughput and is managed and operated by PSA International.

Both ports will establish a long-term, comprehensive cooperative relationship, share port operation experiences, and deepen exchanges and collaborations in various areas such as maritime networks, logistics, port management, and information technology, according to an official from the Xiamen Port Authority.

The cooperating ports will join forces to deepen collaboration in opening new maritime routes, increasing flight frequencies, and enhancing the convenience of cargo transportation. They will also carry out port promotion activities to increase the efficiency of both ports and elevate the level of cargo loading, unloading, and trade. 

Additionally, they will exchange information regarding port development, management reforms, and application of advanced technology and equipment to improve overall port management standards.

Xiamen and Singapore share a profound history and significant connections. Out of the 38 Southeast Asian container liner routes operated by Xiamen Port, 10 routes pass through Singapore Port.

The establishment of friendly port relations between Xiamen Port and Singapore Port is an important step in Xiamen's promotion of high-level openness.
