Xiamen's commercial economy achieves remarkable results in 2023
In 2023, the stable operation of Xiamen's commercial economy contributed to the city's economic and social development.
The annual sales of the city's wholesale and retail industry reached 3.96 billion yuan ($553.41 billion), a growth of 3.4 percent compared to the previous year. The total retail sales of consumer goods amounted to 274.33 billion yuan, an increase of 2.9 percent.
The catering industry achieved an operating income of 34.24 billion yuan, marking a growth of 16.3 percent.
The leasing and business service industry (excluding travel agencies) achieved an operating income of 95.98 billion yuan from January to November in 2023, reflecting a growth of 24.8 percent.
The total value of Xiamen's imports and exports was 947.04 billion yuan, indicating a 2.7 percent increase and accounting for 48 percent of Fujian province's total, an increase of 1.5 percentage points from the previous year.
The actual use of foreign investment was $1.97 billion, accounting for 45.8 percent of the provincial total and an increase of 1.5 percentage points from the previous year.
A total of 931 projects were launched, with a three-year planned investment of 167.28 billion yuan. The annual commencement rate of the projects was 88.3 percent, an increase of 20.5 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
The exhibition industry achieved 28.74 billion yuan in economic gains, representing an impressive growth of 85.4 percent.
