The Mediterranea international cruise ship arrived in Xiamen on March 10, using Xiamen port as its homeport for the first time.
The cruise ship, carrying 1,669 passengers, is expected to depart for Ishigaki, Japan before March 14.
This is the first international cruise ship to arrive in Xiamen this year, signifying the full recovery of regular international cruise operations at the Xiamen International Cruise Center.
Outbound cruise tourism has seen a strong resurgence. Including the Mediterranea, a total of five international cruise ships are scheduled to visit Xiamen during the year, with an expected operation of 28 international voyages.
To speed up port clearance services and boost the development of Xiamen's cruise economy, the Xiamen Maritime Safety Administration has formulated tailored security plans for incoming cruise ships, deploying comprehensive regulatory and security measures throughout the entire process.
The city will continue to leverage its professional advantages, welcoming all types of global cruise ships with a more open attitude.
Why Xiamen
-
Xiamen is one of the most economically competitive cities in China and was one of the first Special Economic Zones on the Chinese mainland. As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
