Xiamen's convention and exhibition industry thrives

Xiamen's convention and exhibition industry serves as a barometer for the economy witnessed impressive growth in 2024, with various key metrics seeing substantial increases.

Data shows that in 2024, Xiamen hosted a total of 193 exhibitions, growing 26.97 percent year-on-year, with an exhibition area covering approximately 2.46 million square meters, an 8.67 percent increase. 

In 2025, Xiamen is gearing up to host a series of pivotal exhibitions, including the 25th China Xiamen International Stone Fair. These events are expected to transform various exhibition venues into bustling hubs, further enhancing Xiamen's overall competitiveness in the convention and exhibition industry.

Xiamen is actively implementing the "Exhibition Plus" strategy, bolstering the role of conference and exhibitions in driving industries, investment promotion, consumption, and cultural tourism. The platform's functions in investment attraction and industry promotion are increasingly evident.

Particularly, the hosting of major national and professional exhibitions has created new development and business opportunities for Xiamen. For instance, the 24th China International Fair for Investment and Trade in 2024 was a milestone event underlining Xiamen's significance in boosting the "Invest in China" brand.

Xiamen has also introduced high-profile industrial exhibition projects such as the China National Pharmaceutical Machinery Expo, and China Feed Industry Expo. These initiatives have propelled the development of industries including machinery and electronics, as well as biopharmaceuticals in Xiamen.

In addition, the influx of exhibitors and visitors from other regions during exhibition periods has directly stimulated consumption in Xiamen, particularly in the accommodation, dining, transportation, shopping, and tourism sectors.
