During the Spring Festival holiday this year, the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce hosted the 2025 Xiamen Consumer Festival Spring Shopping Season, focusing on the five themes of "eating, drinking, playing, enjoying, and shopping". They have launched five commercial and tourism routes, meticulously planned six main venues and hundreds of activities, with a government subsidy worth millions of yuan (about 1.37 million).
This initiative deeply connects major business districts, dining establishments, tourist attractions, and online e-commerce platforms, aiming to create a vibrant shopping carnival and strongly kick off the city's consumption market.
From Jan 28 to Feb 4, 20 major shopping centers in Xiamen collectively welcomed 5.89 million visitors, marking a 15.7 percent year-on-year increase. They also achieved a total turnover of 370.43 million yuan, showing a 5.3 percent year-on-year growth.
Throughout the Spring Festival, Xiamen has organized inaugural stores in various fields including catering, retail, and cultural creativity. Additionally, over 10 heavyweight exhibitions have made their debut, making the city the center of attention.

Why Xiamen
-
Xiamen is one of the most economically competitive cities in China and was one of the first Special Economic Zones on the Chinese mainland. As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
