In 2006, Chen undertook repairs of a royal partition made during the reign of Emperor Qianlong (1711-1799).
The partition consists of 128 double sided embroidered screens with more than 60 colors and 15 patterns. Moreover, many of the ways of stitching the screens are lost to the world.
Therefore, in order to better repair the valuable cultural relics, Chen read a lot of ancient books and records and made tons of trials and errors.
Two years later, Chen, along with her apprentices, completed her repairs.
For Chen there's no greater way to show her inspiration and creative ideas than embroidery.
When she watched the starry sky photos recorded by astronomical telescopes for the first time, the Suzhou embroiderer was stunned by their beauty. She decided to reproduce it with her needles and thread.
