A Center of Excellence for Performance Coatings established by Stahl, a Netherlands-based expert in leather- and performance coatings and dyes, in Xushuguan, a town in Suzhou New District, Jiangsu province started operation on Nov 16.
The new facility in Suzhou brings to nine the number of Centers of Excellence the company has worldwide.
The environmental friendly center will focus on innovative performance coating solutions for a wide variety of materials.
As at Stahl's other centers, the Suzhou Center of Excellence will also conduct customer trials that will serve as a basis for the development and application of new solutions.
Hagen Chen, managing director of Greater China at Stahl, said at the opening ceremony: “Over the last few years, our performance coatings business has been growing enormously in China, especially in the automotive industry.”
Chen added that besides the automotive industry, the new facility will focus on satisfying the growing demand in China for packaging film and paper, synthetic materials, coated fabrics, textiles, and specialty applications such as medical and supportive gloves.
Stahl will also use the Suzhou center as an opportunity to increase its investment in research and development, and cultivate and attract more outstanding talents as part of its attempts to grow into one of the most influential and competitive brands in the global coating industrial sector.
