The new Weidmüller plant in Suzhou New District (SND) opened in November 2019 and was fully funded by the leading German industrial and electrical connectivity manufacturer and solutions provider as one of its three major manufacturing bases across the globe.
The plant covers 13,700 square meters and meets the concept of "Industry 4.0" in developing and manufacturing electronics, electrical connectivity and intelligent security devices.
The plant has introduced a variety of automatic, energy-saving and emission-reduction equipment, and is expected to account for 70 percent of Weidmüller's global output by 2023.
SND's well-developed transport links, convenient services and, most importantly, its complete industrial chain of advanced equipment manufacturing convinced the German giant to settle in the area.
The new plant is expected to help Weidmüller's Suzhou branch, which was opened in 2003 and realized annual sales of 518 million yuan ($72.5 million) in 2018, to register more revenue and taxes in the future.
