Suzhou New District (SND) deepened industrial and financial cooperation with Shenzhen on Sept 22, with the former obtaining 46 projects worth a total of 50.9 billion yuan ($7.6 billion), local media reported.

The event was attended by around 400 government officials and business leaders, and a number of agreements for fund investment and financing projects, innovative sci-tech talent projects, and key industrial projects were signed.

SND and the Shenzhen-based tech giant Tencent agreed to set up the first Tencent digital industrial base in the Yangtze River Delta region. It will focus on the digital economy and new-generation infrastructure, sci-tech innovation, and cultural innovation. The base is expected to attract 10 billion yuan in investment and generate 20 billion yuan in annual yield.

SND also formed a partnership with the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to establish an industry-research collaborative innovation center. It is expected to help bring more innovative and entrepreneurial professionals and resources to SND in areas such as health and medicine, robotics, new energy, new materials, big data, and smart cities.

China Merchants Group Shenzhen expressed an intention to invest 10 billion yuan in SND to help the district strengthen its medical apparatus and instruments, bio-pharmaceuticals, and integrated circuit industries.
