Suzhou New District (SND) held a job fair at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in Chengdu, Southwest China's Sichuan province on Nov 5, local media reported.
Fifty-six companies from SND offered a total of 1,874 jobs to Chengdu students, while they in return received 1,013 resumes, 394 were from undergraduates, 615 were postgraduates, and four were doctorate students.
The district has also offered a coupon of 1,000 yuan ($151.4) to help the students cover their traffic fees to take interviews in Suzhou.
"I didn't know about the job fair and actually I was just passing by. Since I've already received a job offer from Soochow University and I came here to learn more about Suzhou's talent policies," said a doctorate student.
"I felt more confident in working in Suzhou and I wanted to suggest my wife to work in SND."
Representatives from SND-based companies also shared their experiences about working and living in SND.
Bi Yanwen, an alumnus of the school and now chairmen of a local company, said SND has given him much support in starting up his businesses and enabled his company to strength up in a speeded way.
The district also offered a scholarship and sponsorship worth totaling 300,000 yuan to help the university students. Suzhou will also award 10 undergraduates and 10 postgraduates with a scholarship of 10,000 yuan every year.
