SND opens innovation center for IC industry

Suzhou New District (SND) opened a new integrated circuit (IC) innovation center in Shishan Business Area on Dec 3, local media reported.

The center is expected to become a new industrial landmark for the local IC industry. It will focus on industrial achievements publicity and demonstration, attracting projects and investment, setting up public service platforms, carrying out insider talks and seminars, and applying and protecting intellectual property rights.

The center plans to allocate 200 IC leading companies in the next three to five years, increasing annual output value of 3 to 5 billion yuan ($458 to 764 million). It will serve SND to become a national leader in chip industry.

The center has settled nearly 20 projects, which are expected to engage over 2,000 high-end talent in the IC industry.

The day also saw the center reaching agreements with local banks, institutional investors, and public service platforms, aiming to carry out scientific cooperation, research result commercialization, talent cultivation, and industrial ecology construction in key fields such as intelligent terminal, internet of things, artificial intelligence, and 5G telecommunications.

SND will continue to strengthen the industrial chain by setting up an operation and service system for IC intellectual property rights, optimize the innovative environment by joining hands with renowned universities and institutes, and offering financial support to business starters.
