Suzhou New District (SND) recently announced measures to develop its embroidery industry in a comprehensive way, spanning platform construction, talent training, brand building, business climate cultivation, and culture-tourism integration.

The district will set up an embroidery studio along with a three-year, a five-year, and a 2035 long-term plan to train professionals, improve silk products, as well as to bolster the industry's environment.

It will also build stronger ties with the China International Import Expo (CIIE) Bureau to closely follow the trend of promoting intangible cultural heritages and showcasing more silk products at the annual event.

SND will strengthen its brand building by cooperating with digital cultural companies like Ximalaya FM, an online audio sharing platform, to create audio stories on embroidery masters and excellent works.

Zhenhu sub-district, the main base for silk culture in SND and where the characteristic Silk Show Town is located, will host a silk craft biennial exhibition and an embroidery culture festival this year.

Statistics show that Silk Show Town has now attracted two national embroidery masters, 39 provincial and city-level masters, as well as 9,000 industrial insiders. More than 80 fine embroidery works have been presented as national gifts to international guests. The works of three silk masters have been collected by the National Art Museum of China, while 90 other works have been collected by either museums around the world or private collections.
