The four-day Arts and Culture Week of the 2021 China International Import Expo kicked off at the Shanghai International Convention Center on July 3.

A total of 83 pieces of Su embroidery, Kesi weaving, and Suzhou fans from Suzhou New District are being showcased in the exhibition halls.

Exhibits include silk scarves, qipao, purses, handbags, fans, bookmarks, pendants and paintings.

The 3.2-meter-long and 1.8-meter-wide Su embroidery work Haitang Huahong, which made its debut at the CIIE, was made with over 1,000 colorful silk threads. The artwork features a scene of begonias in spring and cultural elements of Suzhou.

Another of the SND's Su embroidery works is Fragrant Magnolia Flowers, which was themed on the magnolia, the city flower of Shanghai. The embroidery also features elements the First Memorial Hall of the Communist Party of China and contemporary architectures in Shanghai.

Both Su embroidery works were made by 100 Su embroidery masters, embroiders, and Party members to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.

SND is the birthplace of Su embroidery, a national intangible cultural heritage.
