The charging station on Dengwei Road in Suzhou New District, East China's Jiangsu province was upgraded and officially opened to the public on Aug 4.

Built by the State Grid Suzhou Power Supply Company, the station is the first new-generation low-carbon intelligent charging station in the province that integrates electric vehicle rental and sales, driving experience, and charging services.

The newly upgraded charging station occupies 1,700 square meters and has five main zones: an integrated optical storage and charging area, an electric vehicle experience center, a car networking monitoring center, an office area, and a resting area for drivers.

In the integrated charging area, the 343-square-meter charging station roof is covered with 204 photovoltaic panels that can generate about 80,000 kWh of power annually.

The electricity generated by photovoltaic is directly consumed by the station and is estimated to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 80 tons per year.

The upgrading of the station began in 2020 to meet the growing demand for charging services. According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, 5.5 million NEVs have been sold in China to date.
