The digital industrial base of the Shenzhen-based tech giant Tencent will break ground in Suzhou New District on Sept 29.

Covering an area of 33.2 hectares, the base will consist of a digital industrial center, a digital city scientific innovation center, an industrial application center for artificial intelligence, a development center for the new culture and tourism industry, as well as supporting infrastructure.

The base will aim to attract companies involved in the blockchain industry, focus on intelligent city construction, promote the application of AI in traditional industry scenarios, as well as attract more cultural and tourism projects to contribute to SND becoming a digital economic development hub in the Yangtze River Delta region.

The base is expected to bring in investments worth 10 billion yuan ($1.55 billion) and generate 20 billion yuan in annual sales

In addition, a batch of Tencent-supported projects have been settled and commercialized in SND. For instance, Qunli Group's new subsidiary, an artificial intelligence company, has opened in SND, and a WeChat mini program for the Silk Show Town was recently put online and made available to the public.

By relying on the digital industrial base of Tencent, SND will continue enhancing efforts to develop its digital industry.
