World famous entrepreneurs from China and Japan held an online conference on Dec 15 to discuss the innovations and challenges that companies from the two countries will face in the low-carbon era, local media outlets reported.
The conference was organized by the Japan Asian Community Organization for Cultural Cooperation and the management committee of Suzhou New District.
Participating entrepreneurs and heads of institutions held in-depth and constructive discussions on green, low-carbon and innovative development from the perspectives of finance and insurance, venture capital funds, digital economy, aerospace, new energy, new materials, and high-end manufacturing.
They agreed that low-carbon development is an urgent factor in progressing global sustainable development and has brought great challenges and opportunities. To achieve low-carbon progress more extensively, Chinese and Japanese enterprises should innovate and upgrade their urban development as well as energy and industrial structures.
Yasuo Fukuda, former prime minister of Japan, and Wang Shi, founder of real estate giant Vanke Group, also attended and addressed the conference.
Wang said Chinese and Japanese companies enjoy broad prospects for cooperation in low-carbon and innovative development. He expects the two sides to carry out wider and deeper cooperation in the future, especially in the low-carbon and green energy area.
Suzhou New District is now home to 652 Japanese-invested companies, about one third of the city's total. The cumulative total investment has reached $20 billion. It is also the only demonstration zone for innovative Sino-Japanese cooperation on green industries in China.
