Nanjing University in East China's Jiangsu province recently announced that it will increase its enrollment limit for undergraduate students by 500 this year.

This was the first expansion in nearly a decade, as the prestigious university has long enrolled around 3,300 freshmen.

The school's newly-completed Suzhou Campus, which will be put into operation this September, will admit students studying intelligent science and technology and digital economy, two majors especially designed for the Suzhou Campus, as well as students of integrated circuit design and integration system and software engineering, two majors that were formerly located at the main campus in Nanjing.

A result of cooperation between Nanjing University and the local Suzhou government, the new campus will be committed to developing five major disciplines: biomedicine and health engineering, functional materials and intelligent manufacturing, artificial intelligence and information technology, the Earth system and future environment, and digital economy and management science.

The new campus is located in Suzhou New District and covers an area of around 133.3 hectares. It is divided into an East and a West Zone.
