Kanazawa, a Japanese sister city of Suzhou since 1981, recently posted pictures of the eastern Chinese city on its official social platforms, presenting classic Suzhou culture and landscapes to Japanese people.
The pictures mainly targeted Zhouzhuang, Tongli, Mudu and Luzhi, the four most renowned water towns in Suzhou, telling how local cultures have been conceived and thrived near the water.
Suzhou and Kanazawa have carried out a series of events to deepen folk exchanges amid the COVID-19 pandemic, including Sister Cities amid COVID-19, Sister Cities Information Exchange, Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition, and "Photo Exhibition in Celebration of Friendship".
The Japanese city has been promoting Suzhou culture on its social platforms since May 2021. So far, it has published four related articles, presenting the classical gardens, cuisine, crafts and ancient towns of Suzhou to its people.
Since Suzhou was first paired with Kanazawa in 1981, the two cities have conducted friendly exchanges and yielded tangible results in a wide range of areas such as trade and the economy, culture, handicrafts, education, sports, and environmental protection.
