Middle school students at the Suzhou Science and Technology Town Foreign Language School in Suzhou New District held an online exchange with students from the Read School in York, the United Kingdom on June 28, local media outlets reported.
It was the first time the two schools held this kind of online exchange activity.
Students from the UK introduced traditional British culture with great enthusiasm, while students from Suzhou impressed their foreign friends with local classical gardens and cuisine and invited them to visit the city, appreciate the scenery and taste local delicacies someday.
Suzhou and York have held a series of exchanges over the past few years. The Humble Administrator's Garden in Suzhou and the Castle Howard in the UK, as a pair of sister gardens, co-hosted a photo exhibition in 2019. In addition, the two cities met via video link on the day of the Dragon Boat Festival last year to discuss their urban characteristics and folk culture.
