A large number of local seasonal foods have recently hit the market at low prices in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, including the following:
Yellow peaches
Yellow peaches grown in Zhenhu sub-district, Suzhou New District hit the market last week. Though output slightly decreased from last year's due to changes in climate, the yellow juicy fruit is roughly the same price as last year and tastes much sweeter than in previous years.

Seafood
One kilogram of swimming crabs was sold at 140 to 160 yuan ($20.72 to $23.68) last month. But since harvest season kicked off, the price has plummeted to around 100 yuan per kg.
In addition to swimming crabs, other seafood such as hairtail, yellow croaker and squid have also seen a drop in price.

Water caltrop
One of the eight aquatic plants of Suzhou, water caltrop is also known as "Suzhou Red." Its fruit will be available in bulk in a few days and priced at 16 yuan per kg. However, due to unusually hot weather this year, its yield is expected to drop 20 percent from last year and the size will shrink as well.
