The 2022 International Health Cooperation Conference and Forum on China-Africa Hospitals Counterpart Cooperation took place in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province on Aug 27-28, local media outlets reported
The event, gathering around more than 40 experts from 11 countries and featuring over 130 domestic experts in online and offline forms, consisted of a forum for international academicians as well as 19 sub-forums covering topics including high-quality development, construction and innovation of humanistic hospitals, and lean management of hospitals.
Cheng Xingying, vice-governor of Jiangsu province, spoke highly of the conference for keeping a foothold within the framework of A Global Community of Health for All and offered a platform for global experts and scholars to share practical experiences and discuss development plans.
Wu Qingwen, mayor of Suzhou, said the city aimed at becoming a model city of the Healthy China Initiative and has in recent years improved its public health service system, accelerated the development and expansion of medical resources, and taken the lead in healthcare with the average life expectancy ranking first among large and medium cities in China.
Wu said Suzhou has also taken advantage of strategic opportunities brought about by the integration of the Yangtze River Delta region and is striving to develop itself into a biopharmaceutical leader in both domestic and international markets.
Agreements for a number of international cooperation projects were also signed at the conference, including an international sleep center, a training program of general practitioners for children with autism, and strategic partners of the International Health Cooperation Conference.
