Major scenic spots and recreational blocks in Suzhou New District, East China's Jiangsu province, received nearly 804,300 visitors during the National Day holiday from Oct 1 to 7, local media outlets reported.
The Forest World of Suzhou Amusement Land, the largest amusement park in SND, staged a variety of lighting shows, float parades, magic shows, and other singing and dancing performances, attracting a total of 60,000 visitors during the holiday.
The Dayang Mountain National Forest Park was unique among local scenic spots in seeing a year-on-year increase of 141.5 percent and receiving 104,000 tourists during the seven-day holiday. A space-themed light show was a popular attraction there.
Shushan village, a once secluded area, has gained popularity in recent years after upgrading its infrastructure and preserving its natural landscapes and rural customs.
Cultural spots such as the Suzhou Museum West Branch and China Embroidery Art Museum also attracted flocks of visitors during the holiday, who immersed themselves in a world of art and tried their hands at traditional Chinese handicrafts.
The thriving tourism market has also fueled the local hotel industry, with boutique hotels, star hotels and niche rural homestays all seeing boom during the period.
