The delegation sent by Suzhou for a seven-day business trip in Japan returned to the eastern Chinese city on Nov 23, with the trip being hailed a success, local media outlets reported.
The delegation was comprised of foreign trade enterprise employees and public servants from commerce bureaus of the city and its subordinate districts and county-level cities.
While visiting a total of 62 enterprises and institutions and hosting three matchmaking events, the delegation inked cooperative deals worth over $1.8 billion in fields such as new materials, auto parts and semiconductors.
Suzhou New District, located in the western corner of the city, is a hub of Japanese investment in the Yangtze River Delta region.
The delegation from SND visited NGK Insulators' headquarters in Nagoya and introduced to their Japanese counterparts the district's open economy, HQ economic policies, and profit reinvestment policies.
The delegates expressed their appreciation for the smooth operations of NGK Ceramics Suzhou Co in SND and said they believe that NGK will continue to prefer SND over other regions when formulating their Chinese business strategy.
The director of the NGK headquarters said that the company will increase its investment in SND in the future and give priority to the R&D and industrial layout of NAS power stations and other new products in the district.
The delegation also reached a $150-million deal with a Japanese manufacturer of cancer treatment equipment after several rounds of online and offline negotiations and in-person visits. The two sides are expected to delve more into world cutting-edge cancer treatment technologies.
