Hakim & Kong Xiaoxi, the first animated co-production between China and Saudi Arabia, is popular among children, sowing the seeds of China-Saudi Arabia friendship in their hearts, Suzhou Daily reported.

Produced by Ori Animation from Suzhou and the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Information, Hakim & Kong Xiaoxi marks the first film and TV cooperation project between China and Saudi Arabia and is the first animation ever produced by Saudi Arabia.

Themed on cuisine and cultural exchange, the animation tells the story of Kong Xiaoxi and his brother Kong Xiaodong, who by using oriental wisdom and kungfu, help Hakim retain his restaurant and allow locals to enjoy both Chinese and Arabian food.

The animation demonstrates Chinese food culture, Chinese kungfu and clothing arts, as well as the customs of Saudi Arabia and authentic Arabian food. It opens the gates of cooperation between the two countries and speeds up the integration of their cultures.

Production on the second animation is already in full swing. It will involve Hakim coming to China and beginning a kungfu journey with Kong Xiaoxi.

Suzhou and Saudi Arabia also cooperate closely in economy and trade. Suzhou has invested in six projects in Saudi Arabia, with contracted foreign investment totaling $53 million and covering automobile manufacturing, the petrochemical industry, and construction materials.
