Wu Qingwen, mayor of Suzhou in East China's Jiangsu province, recently met with Pierre Boulud, chief operating officer and executive vice-president of Clinical Operations of bioMerieux.
The mayor thanked bioMerieux for its long-term support for Suzhou's economic and social development.
Biological medicine is Suzhou's key industry, and the city's biological medicine and high-end medical device clusters have made the list of advanced national manufacturing clusters, according to Wu.
He noted that bioMerieux leads the world in in-vitro diagnostics and is strong in independent research and development, complementing Suzhou's industrial development.
Suzhou will continue providing a good business environment and focus on innovation in the biological medicine industry to promote the further development of bioMerieux's Suzhou base, added the mayor.
He also expressed hope that bioMerieux will expand its presence in the city.
Boulud praised Suzhou for its innovative atmosphere, strong industrial facilities, and favorable business environment.
The biotechnology company will increase its investment in Suzhou and bring more technological solutions and innovative product lines to the city, according to Boulud.
The bioMerieux (Suzhou) Biotech Co. Ltd. was established in Suzhou New District in 2019, and its products are mainly sold to China and other countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
SND has been promoting innovation and clustering in the medical device and biological medicine industries. The district is currently home to more than 800 such businesses, including Thermo Fisher Scientific.
