Suzhou New District in East China's Jiangsu province hosted a three-day event for foreign-invested and private businesses and research institutes from Aug 10 to 12.

More than 450 representatives from over 200 businesses as well as those from foreign chambers of commerce and related institutions were invited to attend.

Yu Meihua, an SND official, thanked these guests for their support of the district's development. She noted that the district will continue optimizing its business environment and encouraging foreign-invested companies to expand their investment.

Yu also expressed her hope that the companies involved will promote the SND and introduce more high-quality resources to the district.

Markus Grabmeier, executive vice-president of Germany's Siemens AG, which established a facility in SND in 1994, said at the event that due to the SND's favorable business environment and perfect infrastructure, Siemens has made a series of achievements in the district and will continue expanding its technological innovation layout and global R&D system.

During the event, guests were invited to visit Suzhou Museum West, Suzhou Campus of Nanjing University and China Embroidery Art Museum.

SND is currently home to nearly 2,000 foreign-invested businesses, 1,376 national high-tech enterprises, and 112 institutes.

In addition to its favorable business environment, SND also boasts advanced educational and medical levels as well as scenic views based on 56 mountains, 56 shorelines along Taihu Lake and the Grand Canal.
