The opening ceremony for the 2022 freshmen of the Beijing International Studies University (BISU) was held at the stadium on Aug 27.

The opening ceremony included three sections to welcome new students to be a part of BISU. Ji Jinbiao, the council's vice-chairperson and the university's president, as well as responsible persons of relevant departments attended the ceremony. Zhang Yan, vice-president of BISU was the program host.

Representatives of the teachers and students of the Winter Olympics volunteer service team gave speeches on the outstanding performance of BISU’s volunteers. . Teacher Wang Miao shared her experience of being a translator. A student from Mali, who goes by his Chinese name Zhang Yisheng, shared his experience of participating in the opening ceremony of the Olympics.
Tang Yao, a student who won the first Wutong Medal, shared her gains and growth. She picked six new students to share their expectations for the future.
At the opening ceremony, university officials awarded school badges to the representatives of freshmen. The badge is engraved with BISU’s motto “Integrity, Diligence, Truth, and Leadership” to encourage students to stick to their original aspirations and take their responsibilities seriously.
President Ji put forward his expectations to the freshmen of 2022, encouraging them to be patriotic and aspiring and to tell Chinese stories to the world. Ji said he also hoped students would maintain an optimistic and positive attitude toward study and life. Ji vowed that BISU will strengthen the construction of study style, focus on improving students’ learning ability, global competitiveness and creativity.
