Liles Damien Xavier is from the United States. He holds a bachelor's degree in Chinese from the University of Maryland and a master's degree in International Conference Interpretation from Beijing International Studies University (BISU). He is currently working as a foreign expert, and interpreting & English language professor at the School of Interpreting and Translation in BISU. He is responsible for courses in Elementary Oral I, Elementary Oral II, Integrated English III, Integrated English IV, Public Speaking, English Listening & Paraphrasing, English Communication Skills, Discourse Analysis & Writing, Consecutive Interpreting, Liaison Interpreting, and Sight Interpreting. He assisted the previous dean in conducting survey into the reception of Chinese news abroad. Liles also has rich translation experience and engaged in the translation projects such as Chinese Contemporary Literature Author and Book Summaries (80,000 char), Classical Chinese Music Research Reports (15,000 char), Mulan Script (8,000 char), Belt & Road Initiative Report (7,000 char), "China's Road to Educational Modernization" Series Book (215,000 char), Movie Subtitles (20 films).
