BISU Party Secretary gives lectures on international communication

Chang Yu, secretary of the CPC Beijing International Studies University (BISU) Committee, was invited to Harbin, Heilongjiang province to give lectures on international communication at two training events, with focuses on the translation and dissemination of Chinese political discourse and the international communication of major sports events.

Chang gave his first lecture at a seminar at Northeast Forestry University. The seminar, hosted by the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies of the China International Communications Group (CICG) and Foreign Affairs Office of Heilongjiang Provincial People's Government, was aimed at promoting Chinese political discourse, and its participants included outstanding translators and experts.

Chang made use of vivid examples from the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Winter Olympics to share communication strategies for major international sports events.

He also gave a lecture for Harbin officials, as well as those in charge of the preparation for the 2025 Asian Winter Games. Taking the international communication during the Beijing Winter Olympics as an example, Chang explained the core elements, rules and patterns, as well as methods of international communication for major international sports events, emphasizing the importance of succinctly conveying core information and proposing new ideas to showcase the unique culture and technological innovation of the host country and city.

Participants said Chang presented valuable ideas for international communication and methods to promote Harbin during the Asian Winter Games and in the future.

Chang's lectures demonstrated the academic strength and practical experience of BISU in the field of international communication. The university intends to continue to assist in enhancing China's international communication capabilities and strengthening its influence and discourse power in the international community.
