Genghis Khan Airlines makes maiden flight
Genghis Khan Airlines -- a newly established regional carrier in Inner Mongolia autonomous region -- made its maiden flight on July 26, according to a news conference held in Hohhot, capital of the region, on July 25.
The airline announced it will open daily flights linking Hohhot with Ulaanhot and Xiliinhot from July 26.
It will launch flights to connect Hohhot with Tongliao, Manzhouli, Chifeng, Arxan and other areas in Inner Mongolia in the future, with the aim of establishing a comprehensive flight network.
According to the airline, it is also planning to reach capital cities in northeastern, northern and northwestern areas of China.
Gao Shiqin, deputy director of the development and reform commission in Inner Mongolia, said at the conference that there are 30 civil airports in the autonomous region, an increase of 16 compared to the number in 2012.
Local officials said that the operation of the new airline is expected to help the development of civil aviation in Inner Mongolia.
