Spring Festival couplets herald Chinese New Year
Calligraphers create Spring Festival couplets in Hohhot, capital city of North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Jan 6, in celebration of the upcoming Spring Festival. Spring Festival couplets, or chunlian, are one of the most important customs to celebrate the Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival. The couplets consist of two paper scrolls, inscribed with lines of poetry or auspicious sayings, pasted vertically on both sides of a door. [Photo/northnews.cn]
