Hohhot, capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has been making strides in improving the city's elderly care system as well as enhancing the services it provides for its elderly residents, according to Hohhot Evening News.
The Xincheng district's home care service system provides assistance to the elderly, based on their life needs, through a smart home care information platform.
A smart elderly care command and dispatch center has been set up in the district, providing a total of 92 kinds of services in 19 categories. These services include meal assistance services, bathing services, cleaning services, emergency assistance services, and medical assistance services.
Staff members monitor all the old service stations, old service restaurants and public apartments for the elderly in the district through a central big screen.

According to staff members, the population of Xincheng district is 640,000, and the number of people over 60 years old is 77,000, accounting for 12.1 percent of the total population. The district has opened 12 restaurants catering for the elderly, and 10 elderly service centers.
By clicking each colored dot on the screen, the real-time situation of each operating unit can be seen. Through the collection of data on the elderly, the production of elderly cards and the supervision of elderly services, big data for all the elderly in the district is obtained and uploaded to the platform in real time.
The data will provide data support for the government's next steps in pension matters, so as to better provide services for the elderly in the district.
