Hohhot, capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has accelerated the construction of key transport infrastructure projects, strengthened their scheduling and tracked their progress, all while ensuring quality and safety, according to local media reports.
Ring roads and elevated roads are the main arteries that quickly connect urban areas. At present, the Second Ring Road has become the main road that residents use to travel around the city.
Since 2017, Hohhot has launched a large-scale reconstruction and upgrading of the Third Ring Road, Zhelimu Road, Hailaar Street, Bayannuur Road and other roads to fundamentally solve urban traffic congestion issues.
Zhelimu Road and Zhaowuda Road are the arterial roads running through the north and south of Hohhot, and are two of the more congested road sections.
After upgrade work, the elevated section of Zhelimu Road was opened to traffic in August. The main structure of the viaduct section of Zhaowuda Road, south of the Gulou overpass, has now been fully connected and is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.
The Bayannuur Road Reconstruction and Upgrading Project, with a total length of 10.43 kilometers, is an important part of the West Express Road Network in Hohhot.
It is an important bridge link that runs through the north-south traffic arterial road in the western urban area of Hohhot. Construction is currently being stepped up and the road is expected to open to traffic by the end of this year.
