The Zhaojun Museum project, developed by the China Architecture Design & Research Group, has won the Special Mention Award at the German Design Awards, marking another international award win for the project, following the WAF award.
The German National Design Award is an international award issued by the German Design Council. Only works recommended by the German Design Committee can be nominated. Most of the works nominated for the competition are in the international design category.
This year, 300 works from 69 countries and regions participated in the competition.

Located in Hohhot, capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, Zhaojun Museum completed its expansion and upgrade work and reopened to the public in June 2018.
It is a national 4A-level scenic spot.
In 2016, the museum launched its innovation and expansion program by reorganizing the museum into three areas: an exhibition area, a mausoleum area and an amusement area.
The exhibition area was constructed in the style of the architecture of the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24).
The new museum displays the history of heqin, which literally means "peace-making marriage". This was a policy adopted during the Western Han Dynasty to make peace with neighboring regions through intermarriage. It was the first such policy in China.
The amusement area features lawns, trees and ornamental flowers, offering a beautiful environment for visitors to rest in.
