Hohhot, capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has made good progress in its socio-economic development in 2020, with performances in various aspects showing steady growth, according to local media reports.

In the first quarter of 2020, Hohhot started or resumed construction on 29 major projects, with a resumption rate of 50 percent - 4 percentage points higher than the same period in 2019.

On June 29, more than 10 major construction projects, including Inspur Inner Mongolia Big Data Industrial Park, resumed construction work.

Despite the impact of COVID-19, in the first three quarters of 2020 the city's regional GDP reached 214.23 billion yuan ($33.14 billion).

The per capita disposable income of urban permanent residents was 37,302 yuan, the same as the same period in 2019, and the per capita disposable income of rural permanent residents was 13,542 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.4 percent. The city's overall consumer price level rose by 2.8 percent year-on-year.

From January to November, the total retail sales and growth rate of consumer goods in Hohhot both ranked first in the autonomous region.

The Hohhot municipal bureau of commerce made efforts to further promote the "e-commerce - leading enterprises - poor households" poverty alleviation model; encouraged agricultural product processing and sales enterprises to develop e-commerce; and formed a relatively stable production and marketing chain, so as to promote the online sales of agricultural products.

In recent years, Hohhot has developed various local e-commerce platforms. From January to October 2020, the online sales of agricultural products in banners and counties in Hohhot reached 110 million yuan, higher than the same period last year, and it is expected to achieve 130 million yuan throughout the year.
